Human infections can occur either by direct contact with urine or tissue of an infected animal or indirectly through contaminated water, soil, or vegetation; usual portal entry are abraded skin on the feet; symptoms-abrupt onset of muscle pains, thighs and back, headache, high grade fever jaundice; complications- kidney failure, bleeding, and death; rising cases now due to floods. Please alert pulic and other healthcare professionals. Medical city has 20 cases, St. Lukes has 8, MDH has 2. Total number of cases not yet confirmed but mounting. Please pass.
